Born as the youngest of five siblings in a family where music and spirituality were deeply interwoven, Michael's early life was rich with the sounds of his mother's soprano voice in the Tabernacle Choir and his father's ragtime piano. This environment, where music and spiritual singing were fundamental, shaped his path towards becoming the founder and guiding light of Mind Medicine Ministry.

Michael's academic pursuits led him to graduate Cum Laude with degrees in Psychology and Philosophy of Science from the University of Utah, where he also earned a Certification in Applied Positive Psychology. This strong educational foundation is complemented by his hands-on experience in the medical field, working in clinical research, laboratory science, and patient care. This unique blend of knowledge and experience underscores Michael's deep appreciation for medical processes and the scientific underpinnings of health and wellness.
A Storied Career in Music Performance and Education
Michael's journey in competitive performance art is marked by his participation and teaching in Drum Corps International (DCI), where he achieved world-class accolades, including an undefeated World Champion season and Outstanding Percussion title with the Blue Devils of Concord, California. His contributions to music education extend to private lessons, clinician roles, and soundtrack design for competitive performance ensembles, showcasing his dedication to nurturing talent and fostering excellence in the arts.
Spiritual and Personal Consulting Practice
Since 2017, Michael has conducted hundreds of sessions in his unique consulting practice, blending evidence-based Western therapeutic methods with holistic Eastern spiritual approaches. This practice reflects his commitment to transformative processes that cater to the individual needs and unique spiritual journeys of those he works with. The main strength of his practice is in facilitating deep and practical self-intimacy.
